Privacy and Confidentiality
This page explains what information Closing the Wound collects, why, where it is kept and what rights you have over it. It also explains confidentiality in counselling and its limits. Last updated 8 October 2026.
Who Is Responsible
Closing the Wound, an online counselling practice based in Yangon, is responsible for your information. Contact: closingthewound@gmail.com.
What Is Collected and Why
- Your emails. When you email, the practice receives your name, email address and whatever you write. These are used only to reply to you and to arrange sessions. Please leave clinical details out of your first email.
- This website. The site uses no advertising or tracking cookies. Its host, Cloudflare, processes basic technical data such as your IP address to deliver the pages and keep them secure.
Where It Is Stored
Emails are stored in the practice’s Google email account. Sessions take place on a video platform agreed with you by email and are not recorded. Your information is never sold or shared for marketing.
Consent for Health Information
Before any health information is collected, you are asked for your explicit written consent. You can withdraw it at any time by email.
Confidentiality and Its Limits
What you say in sessions is confidential. Information is shared without your consent only where this is needed to protect you or someone else from serious harm, or where the law requires it. Where possible, this is discussed with you first.
Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA)
Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019) has been fully in force since 1 June 2022. Under it:
- Health information is sensitive personal data. It may be collected only with your explicit consent, except in limited cases set out in the Act (Section 26).
- The Act applies to providers outside Thailand who offer services to people in Thailand (Section 5), so it applies to this practice.
- Among other rights, you may withdraw your consent at any time (Section 19), ask for access to and a copy of your data (Section 30), and ask for it to be erased (Section 33).
To use any of these rights, email closingthewound@gmail.com. Requests for access are answered within 30 days, as the Act requires.
